R�seau Varèse: an ambition of European cooperation

Since its creation, in 1999, the R�seau Varèse has done its utmost to support the creation and sharing of music through the activities of its members (festivals, seasons, productions, etc.).

The support provided to members involved in shared actions is funded through the Programme Culture 2000 of the European Union.

The pursuit of this aim of trans-national development within a network that unites 17 organisations in 11 different European countries, all leading lights in the field of contemporary music, has meant that a new and original modus operandi has had to be conceived, which respects the specificities of each of its members and which takes shared decisions into account.

The aim of the Budapest Conference will be to review this original way of operating, to allow the members of the R�seau to express their opinions and then to compare this experience with the thoughts of invited personalities on questions regarding European cultural cooperation.

A summary of these exchanges and reflections will be disseminated after the Conference along with a presentation of the R�seau Varèse.
